LEED® PROJECT CERTIFICATION POINTS

GE Lighting Products can be used towards LEED® project certification in the following areas.

New Construction
According to LEED® 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations

GE Consumer & Industrial has products that can help you maximize your LEED® project points. For a full list of possible project points, download the LEED® 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations.

GE Consumer & Industrial offers products to help in the following areas.

New Construction Rating System Available GE Product Points
Energy & Atmosphere (EA)
EA Prerequisite 2: Minimum Energy Performance Required
Establish minimum level of energy efficiency for the proposed building and systems to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.
See state building energy codes
Required
EA Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance
Achieve increasing levels of energy performance beyond the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.
1 to 19*
INNOVATION IN DESIGN
ID Credit 1: Innovation in Design
To provide design teams and projects the opportunity to be awarded points for exceptional performance above requirements set by the LEED® for New Construction Green Building Rating System and/or innovative performance in Green Building categories not specifically addressed by the LEED® for New Construction Green Building Rating System.

REGIONAL PRIORITY
RP Credit 1: Regional Priority
Provide an incentive for the achievement of credits that address geographically-specific environmental priorities.

Earn 1-4 of the 6 Regional Priority credits identified by the USGBC regional councils and chapters as having environmental importance for a project's region. A database of Regional Priority credits and their geographic applicability is available here.

NOTE: One point is awarded for each Regional Priority credit achieved; no more than 4 credits identified as Regional Priority credits may be earned. Projects outside of the U.S. are not eligible for Regional Priority credits.

* Points achieved are from combining the benefits of all types of optimized energy performance, examples include: HVAC, power, lighting, and other equipment. GE's products used in conjunction with other efficient building products can obtain up to the maximum allowable points.

Existing Building
According to LEED® 2009 for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance

GE Consumer & Industrial has products that can help you maximize your LEED® project points. For a full list of possible project points, download the LEED® 2009 for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance.

GE Consumer & Industrial offers products to help in the following areas.

Existing Building Rating System Available GE Product Points
Energy & Atmosphere (EA)
EA Prerequisite 2: Minimum Energy Performance Required
To establish minimum level of operating energy efficiency for the building system.
Required
EA Credit 1: Optimize Energy Efficiency Performance
To achieve an increased level of operating energy efficiency performance relative to typical buildings of similar type to reduce environmental impacts associated with excessive energy use.

Point rating dependent on EPA Rating using ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager Tool (must achieve an energy efficiency rating of at least 71). If your building type is not represented in Portfolio Manager, demonstrate energy efficiency at least 21% better than average for buildings of similar type or if neither are applicable, refer to the LEED for EB Operation and Maintenance, 2009 Edition.
1 to 18*
Materials & Resources (MR)
MR Credit 2: Sustainable Purchasing - Durable Goods
To reduce the environmental and air quality impacts of the materials acquired for use in the operations and maintenance of buildings. Electric-Powered Equipment that can achieve sustainable purchases of at least 40% of total purchases of electric-powered equipment (by cost) during the performance period. Sustainable purchases would meet the following criteria: The equipment is ENERGY STAR® qualified (for product categories with developed specifications), or the equipment (either battery or corded) replaces conventional gas-powered equipment.
1
MR Credit 4: Sustainable Purchasing: Reduced Mercury in Lamps
To establish and maintain toxic material source reduction program to reduce the amount of mercury brought onto the building site through purchases of lamps.
One point is awarded to projects for which at least 90% of all mercury-containing lamps purchased during the performance period (as measured by the number of lamps) comply with the purchasing plan and meet the following overall target for mercury content of 90 picograms per lumen-hour.
1
INNOVATION IN OPERATIONS
IO Credit 1: Innovation in Operations
To provide building operations, maintenance and upgrade teams with the opportunity to achieve additional environmental benefits achieved beyond those already addressed by the LEED 2009 for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Rating System.
