RoHS compliant ballasts are one of GE's EcomaginationSM ways to create products that help our customers improve their environmental and operating performance.
  • RoHS Compliancy for Electronic Ballasts (Reduction of Hazardous Materials) is a directive in Europe, but voluntary right now in the U.S.
  • Restricts six substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE.
  • NEMA call to action to U.S. suppliers to have for RoHS compliancy by 2010.
  • GE's RoHS compliancy strategy in advance of it becoming mandatory in the U.S. is a part of our EcomaginationSM commitment.
  • Mercury is an essential component of lamp operation, reductions need to be made responsibly. The mercury content in our lamps has been reduced 90% since 1985.

GE's lamp and ballast system offers low mercury and the only RoHS compliant ballast in North America.
